Happy Juneteenth!!
Did you know that “Juneteenth” is a combination of “June” and the “Nineteenth?” Petty cool huh? What makes this even more cool is that on this day (June 19th) in 1865 Union Army General Gordon Granger announced that slaves were now free in Texas. Galveston, Texas was the last place that slavery was still going on. For 155 years now, thousands of people all over the world celebrate this day every year. It’s a very significant day to remember!
Though this is very liberating, it also saddens me. Here we are over a 100 years later and we are still fighting for equal rights. With the “I Can’t Breath” and the “Black Lives Matter” movement currently going on it just brings to light that freedom in one area of our life doesn’t mean complete freedom. There are levels to this freedom journey and being free from slavery was a step in the right direction. With protest for equal rights going on it just makes me realize we still have many more hills to climb. However, taking time to celebrate the victories you HAVE won is just as important as continuing to fight. I hope you take time to celebrate the freedom from slavery we have already won.
In what area(s) of your life are you still experiencing bondage? Do you feel free in your marriage but bound by finances? Do you feel free at work but your home life is in shambles? What ever you may be going through know that freedom starts in the MIND. Take steps to gain new knowledge and then create a plan. Once your plan is created, take steps to get free. The plan may not be perfect but get started anyway. You can always change it as needed. I’m celebrating you as you take this journey to freedom! You can do it! I believe in you!
I hope this motivation and inspiration is something for your situation to free and relax your mind as if you are on a vacation!
