In today’s video (click the word “video” to see it), I talk about hearing from a higher power, I call God, speak to me on my walk. The words I kept hearing Him say were, “Wake Up”! As I looked around, I realized that I had to slow down and enjoy the journey. I was so in a hurry to get back home and do homework that I wasn’t enjoying my walk. I also realized that I had been hurrying in life as well. I was so busy hurrying to get to my goals and dreams that I wasn’t enjoying the journey.
As I continued on my walk, I began to think about a movie I had watched years ago called School Days by Spike Lee. At the end of the movie the lead character runs from his dorm room through the college campus yelling, “Wake Up”!. He runs to the college bell, which seems to be in the middle of the campus and rings the bell repeatedly. He had been trying to get the other characters to see things that they needed to wake up to all through out the movie and they were just not seeing things from his point of view. But at the end of the movie everyone wakes up out of their sleep as the bell is ringing and walks to it. The main character finally seems to get them to listen.
Just like the main character of the movie, I am asking you to WAKE UP!! Wake up to your dreams, hopes and aspirations. Wake up and kick fear in the face. Wake up to your life, you were created to be great. Wake up to hug your children. Wake up to hug your spouse. Wake up and understand that God is bigger than the Corona virus. Wake up and enjoy the life you’ve been given!! WAKE UP!!
