In today’s video (click the “word” video), I read a few informational signs on my walk. These signs haven’t always been here so I’ve been perceiving the flowers to be weeds. As I read the signs I’m learning that what I’ve been seeing as weeds actually have a purpose. What I perceived to be nothing is actually very vital to its surrounding. It’s spring time so the flowers I saw as weeds may have lost their leaves during the winter months and now look bare. But as the spring time progresses the flowers will bloom and it will look alive again.
This reminds me of us sometimes. Often times we judge others in the “winter” season of their lives. We even go so far as to count them out when they look “bare”. We don’t realize that the “baby daddy” may have childhood scars. The drunk may have been molested. The cocaine addict may have watched a love one die. Though their actions aren’t favorable as they would in the “spring time”, they still have a purpose. And when they are ready to change they will. We are to just love them (even if from a distance) where they are and keep them in our prayers.
Who has judged you in your “winter” season? How do you see yourself? Do you know who you are and what you are called to do? With a little time and care you can bloom too. I challenge you to go within and find your purpose. You are not what others think of you. You are NOT a mistake. You ARE a masterpiece!
